Is there a way to upload music to Google Play without a PC?

  • I have alot of music on my X and was wondering if there is a way to upload music to Google play without using my laptop. my home network connection is so poor that if anyone uploads anything even photos, it will slow the computer down. If I download or upload anything, it has to be done over 3G. Thanks

  • I don't believe so. But you can tether through your phone to use 3G network. But you will go through your 5gb soft limit in a heart beat in doing this. Making you a heavy 3G user. Then you will be the last of the list in getting speeder data connection (Basically slowing down your connection for that month). Best to do this through your wired connection. Just upload overnight through your wired connection from your computer. I know this is slow, but using your wired connection won't eat up your soft 3G limit. And you got all night to do this.
I personally feel that until we truly get unlimited data service w/o throttling us, this kind of cloud services is not practical. Every time you play music through streaming that you store in the cloud, work on your documents on the cloud, or anything you do in the cloud it eats at your data usage. 5gb soft limit on the unlimited plan is not much when you do things in the cloud. So beware that you maybe slowed down for a period of time if you upload, download and/or stream from the cloud.
What I do is keep a small collection of music that I want to listen to on the Android device. So I don't have to download or stream the music.
Always keep a copy of what is on your Device on your computer and on separate media. What I do is put my Micro SD card in a reader and copy all stuff on the card into a folder in my computer. Then make a backup of the data in two separate external drives (one I take with me at work and one that stays at home. That way I have the Micro SD card as a copy, a copy in the computer, a copy in an external drive at home, and a copy off site in a external drive. That is four copies. Online cloud is the fifth backup, but time consuming and sometimes costly on bandwidth to you.
PS - Micro SD cards do fail w/o any warning. Just an caution FYI.

  • I was told that Verizon can't take away your unlimited data completly if you don't renew your contract. My friend who works there told me that it's illegal because you pay for, unlimited data and its, like stealing if they take away your unlimited

  • They don't really charge you if you use more than 5 gigs if you're on an unlimited data plan, do they?

  • They are not going to hit you with charges. So that is not the issue.
It is that they will put you in the last of the list for the speeder data service. The more congested the networks get the slower you get, because you will be on the last of the list to be served. Basically you, as a heavy user, will be slowed down (throttled) in order to give others on 3G fair usage, because you are using abnormal usage and causing network congestion. This causing interference with their network or ability to provide quality service to other users is their reasoning. Basically putting you to square one with the same slow speed issue that you have with your wired Internet services.
