EPA Recognizes EarthPeople for Leading Green Power Purchase

Purchase Supports New Development of Clean Renewable Resources

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) July 25, 2012 EarthPeople, a sustainability communications firm, is continuing its purchase of green power and its partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency?s Green Power Partnership. EarthPeople purchases 100 percent wind energy from Green Mountain Energy Company to power its office, estimated at 10,000 kilowatt-hours (kWH) annually. This demonstrates a proactive choice to switch away from traditional sources of electricity generation and support cleaner renewable energy.

?This is a huge honor and we are proud to be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,? said Anna Clark, president of EarthPeople. ?Purchasing green power helps our organization model sustainability for our clients, while also sending a message to others across the U.S. that supporting clean sources of electricity is a sound business decision and an important choice in reducing climate risk.?

Green power is electricity that is generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, biomass, and low-impact hydro. Purchases of green power help accelerate the development of new renewable energy capacity nationwide and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector.

?Conventional electricity use is the single-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S.,? said Blaine Collison, Director of EPA?s Green Power Partnership. ?By continuing its impressive commitment to purchase 100 percent green power, EarthPeople is reducing carbon pollution and helping to protect public health, and we encourage other organizations to follow their lead.?
